Snow Bunny

Tuesday night into Wednesday morning we got about 4 inches of really light, fluffy snow (must have been since it was stinkin' cold). So anyway, while Carson was in his swing doing this ...

I decided to bundle Dayton up and take him outside. It's almost not worth the time it takes me to get him bundled up enough to go out in 20 degree weather. First, its the snow pants as he's squirming around whining "boots, boots". Then, he forgets about his boots for a minute and switches gears to "gloves". So we fight to get the dinky little mittens on his little hands. At this point, he's back to "boots, boots" but at least this time we're ready to put them on him. So once we get them on the right feet, I can start to fight to get the pants over the boots (someone didn't think that through when designing the pants). And now for the hat ... that's the easiest part! And last but not least the coat ... would be easy if it weren't for two things ... 1) trying to get his hands through the end of the sleeves and 2) getting him to look up long enough to get it zippered all the way to the top.

At this point, I'm thinking Carson is going to be waking up any minute now and all that work was for nothing. Fortunately, we made it outside.

Dayton had a ball. He loves it outside so much (even when it is 20 degrees)! This was the first time, however, that he actually enjoyed the snow. Since it was so light, he didn't have a problem walking through it. The only issue was the only mittens that I can get on his hands are just knit so his little hands get so cold. It obviously bothers him much less than it bothers me because he cried and cried when I made him come inside. As the garage door was closing, he stopped crying long enough to wave and say "bye, bye snow"!

A romanic night out for ...

EIGHT!! Well, Eric and I were supposed to have a nice Valentine's night out on Friday (without the boys), but our sitter fell through. So instead of staying home, we decided to call up the Kearney's and go out anyway! We decided to go OUT to Don Poncho's instead of doing our normal take out routine. It was a circus, but a lot of fun. Life was actually pretty easy on Eric and I ... Carson slept through the entire thing and Dayton was entertained by Evan sitting next to him. In all fairness, I thought it actually went pretty well.

After dinner, we all went back to the Kearney's to hang out for the evening. And I think by 9:00 all the kids were asleep (or close to it). So we actually got to have some adult conversation and even watched a movie. Thanks Matt and Kelley ... we had a lot of fun!

Big News from Number 1

Number 1 (Dayton) made his first number 1 in the potty yesterday at daycare!!!! Apparently he's been quite interested in the potty recently, but every time he was asked if he wanted to use it he would say no. Well, Monday he didn't so they've been putting him on it. Yesterday afternoon they caught him at just the right time and he actually peed in it! Yay!

Big man on campus!

Carson had his two month well baby visit to the doctor today. He did great! He weighed in at 13lbs 1oz (75th percentile) and is 23 1/4" long (50th percentile). He weighs just a few ounces more than Dayton did at his age and is the same length. Doc was impressed with his neck strength! He even did pretty good for his vaccines. Didn't like the oral rotavirus vaccine too much but it was better than the shots. He didn't cry until well after the first one then he was like ... "oh crap, that hurt". By that time the other two were on their way. So he's napping it off as I type. Poor little guy. Hopefully I'll be seeing his smiling face come back tonight!

Mother of the year?

At least I made it to February this year before kissing mother of the year goodbye! Today Dayton took his first tumble down the stairs. No big deal, right? Doesn't warrant losing mother of the year status, right? Wrong. I have no idea how it happened. I didn't see it. He just woke up from his nap and I went up to get him with Carson in tow (who was crying because he was hungry). We get to the top of the stairs and Dayton wants up ... no can do kiddo ... I need to get you a snack and get your brother fed. So I proceed to go downstairs (leaving Dayton at the top), into the kitchen to get Dayton his sippy cup. That's when I hear the tumble. By the time I got there, he was finishing up a roll landing on the second step. A mixed look of surprise and terror on his face at which point he starts crying. I think he must have just log-rolled down them because I made it to see the end part and he didn't cry very long. I guess I had a little bit too much trust in the little man! Oh well, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger :-). And if you know us ... "rub some dirt on it".

What 'cha gonna do about it?

So I'm sitting in my chair nursing Carson while Dayton is playing in one of my kitchen cabinets like he usually does. So, I concentrate on the baby for a minute or so (what kind of trouble can Dayton get into?) and when I look up Dayton is standing on the bench at the kitchen table playing with the vinegar, vegetable oil, syrup, and sharpie all of which he must have taken there himself. At this point, while I'm "strapped" to the chair, all I can do is tell him to be careful and hope that he doesn't decide to climb onto the table. Luckily, however, I did have my camera right next to me that I was able to snap the pic ;-). How many times a day do us moms have to decide if it's better to pull the child to safety or take a picture? Anyway, as I'm helplessly feeding Carson, Dayton proceeds to hurt his thumb playing with the pepper mill. And here I thought that all the trouble he could realistically get into would be playing in the cats "sand" box. Fun times!

And a whole new world opens up!

Well, I'm now joining the ranks of the rest of you bloggers out there. I thought this would be a nice way to let everyone know what's going on in the DiBiaso family, especially since all our family lives so far away. So here's my first entry ...

Last week (Jan. 28th) Carson made his inaugural trip to Chuck E. Cheese. The boys friend, Ethan, turned three last Monday so we went to celebrate. Surprise, surprise, Carson pretty much slept through the whole thing. We did find out, however, that Dayton is not much of a dare devil ... I guess he takes after his daddy. If it moved, he held on for dear life (pay attention to the white knuckles and fingertips!). He did have fun playing with all the steering wheels ;-).
